How to make Oreo cake

It was my husband’s birthday recently, and he wanted an Oreo cake. I had made an Oreo cake before (literally just Oreos and milk) but it was too dense, so I tried a different approach with delicious results. So, here’s how to make Oreo cake.

Background

We’ve had a cake recipe in our family for many years, and I’ve shared it on this blog before. It’s an easy recipe and anyone can make it.

For my husband’s birthday, I took the same recipe and threw Oreos in. I also made a couple of other adjustments.

It turned out so well. It was very rich and moist, and scrumptious!

The recipe

Side note: if the metric system throws you off, you can use this website to convert it.

Ingredients (batter)

4 eggs

Half a cup of sugar

1 cup of oil

1 cup of water

Half a cup of flour

2 packs of Oreos (to get 2 cups of biscuits)

1 tablespoon cocoa

1 teaspoon of vanilla

4 teaspoons of baking powder

A pinch of salt

Method

  1. Remove the filling from the Oreo cookies and put it aside.
  2. Crush the cookies in a bowl. Add one cup of water and mix. Put the mixture aside.
  3. In a different bowl, whisk the eggs well.
  4. Add the sugar to the eggs and whisk until the sugar has dissolved.
  5. Add the oil to the egg mixture and mix well.
  6. Add the flour, Oreo mixture, cocoa, vanilla, baking powder, and salt to the batter and mix well.

Bake (in a pan of about 24 by 33cm) for 20 to 30 minutes at 180°C.

Ingredients (icing)

Oreo filling

500 g icing sugar

125 g margarine

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Chocolate sprinkles

Method

  1. Melt the margarine.
  2. Add the vanilla and Oreo filling.
  3. This is the tricky part. Add the icing sugar bit by bit while whisking it into the margarine. Do this until the icing sugar is at your desired consistency.

See? It’s easy. Please try it and tell me what you think (my contact details are below).
