I love those people who are so unapologetically themselves. It seems like these days it has become a weird norm for people to want to stand out, but still kind of fit into a mould of what a popular person is. The courage to be yourself, your real self, is rare.
There was a time when I had the ambition to be an academic. I love reading and learning stuff, and the thought of travelling all over the world to present at conferences seemed so romantic to me. But that didn’t happen – for many reasons that I won’t get into now. Let me tell you about my short-lived academic life before it all came crumbling down.
I usually buy second-hand books, because they’re much cheaper than new books. I also only read a book once, so buying new ones would kind of be a waste, even if you still sell them afterward. There have been a couple of weird things that I’ve found in books.
