I’m always the instigator

It’s my birthday in about two weeks, and I thought that I would share a birthday anecdote to commemorate the occasion and tell you how I’m always the instigator.

Think back to yesteryear

Let’s go back to 2012 when I turned 21. Turning 21 is a big deal here in South Africa – as I imagine it is in most countries. However, it didn’t feel like a big deal at the time. I remember waking up on my birthday thinking “Wow, I can legally get wasted anywhere in the world”. (Unlike the USA, the legal drinking age is 18 here in South Africa.)

I had my birthday party the day before my actual birthday (for practical reasons) and I invited all of my friends over for cake and wine. I didn’t often see all my friends in one place, mostly because they all studied different things and were from different clicks.

When I am left unsupervised

It was a nice, relaxed party. We talked, ate, drank and were merry! I noticed that one of my friends, Josh, had my one female friend’s Blackberry in his hand. Yes, these were the days of the infamous Blackberries. I went over to see what he was doing. He was just looking through some of her funny pictures and the like.

Before I go on, you should know that I have a very strange sense of humour. I can’t help it; I grew up with two older brothers and British sitcoms.

Anyway, I told Josh to go onto the girl’s BBM and ask random guys there the question “What are you wearing?” The unsuspecting guys will then obviously think a girl is asking him this. Then I left Josh alone and tended to the other guests.

“I want take a photo”

A few minutes later Josh innocently asked how BBM’s camera works. The girl whose phone it is then asked him why he wanted to know. He answered, “I want to take a photo of my nipple.”

Well, to make a long story short, we’re an odd bunch, so she allowed him to take a photo of his nipple and send it to some guy. It would have been so much funnier if he had hairy nipples.

Needless to say, the owner of the Blackberry later told the perverted guy on her BBM that it was all a joke.

It was one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.

Meh.
