Life update

These past couple of weeks have been crazy, so I haven’t been able to post as often as I’d like to. So, here’s a quick life update.

Jet lag and boxes

Jet lag is awful. It had me up at 3 AM doing laundry and packing out our container.

Here’s what it looked like:

Yes, after more than a year’s wait, we finally got our container. We used Biddulphs and after a couple of months they asked for more money, which we did because otherwise, we’d never see our stuff again. Then they lost one of our boxes. The box with all my sentimental stuff.

They are so useless. And they’re making it very difficult for us to make an insurance claim for the valuables that were in the box.

But I digress.

I had terrible jet lag because our day and night swapped around. So, I’d sleep well one night and terribly the next. It went on for about a week, but once I started working, I got into my sleep routine again.

New job

Well, technically, it’s just a new role at the same school. Next year I’m going to help kids that have language backgrounds other than English. Which is great, because I’m also bilingual and English is my second language.

It pays a bit more and I get more experience, which I’m very thankful for.

First aid

I’m doing a first aid course. I thought I needed it to become a fully registered teacher, but then I found out that I didn’t. That was only after I already signed up for the damn course. I decided that I’d go through with it.

The first part of the course was Thursday afternoon and we did CPR training. All I kept thinking of was that episode of The Office where they had CPR training.

I don’t think anyone should rely on me when there’s a medical emergency—I don’t do well in high-stress situations. Especially situations where someone’s life depends on me.

The kids

The students at school have been doing typical teenage stuff, so I guess I’m not surprised.

It’s almost exam time and now I’m getting a lot of students who want to cram a semester’s work into one class tutorial. I’m good, but I’m not a magician.

Also, some kids did a TikTok challenge at school and now there’s a kid in the hospital.

Kids being kids.

Lastly

I’m seriously looking forward to the holidays. Only three more weeks to go!

Meh.
