Photos from our travels

This week I thought I’d share some photos from our holiday in South Africa. We were there for about two and a half weeks, and we didn’t do any touristy things, we really just visited the family and friends. I regret not taking more photos while there, but here are a few:

Getting there

This was taken at Brisbane Airport. Look at those smiles – they promptly disappeared after a few hours of travel.

We took the train to the airport, so we didn’t have to worry about Saturday morning traffic. Then we flew from Brisbane to Singapore, had a five hour layover, and flew to Johannesburg. Then, we flew from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth to visit grandma. That was about 30 hours of travel in total. I would not recommend it.

Anyway, like I said, we were in Singapore airport for five hours. Although, it’s a beautiful airport, you kind of get sick of it after an hour or two.

This airport is huge!

Look at this cool Khoi fish pond.

There was a butterfly garden and we were in there for all of 30 seconds. It was the middle of the night so we didn’t see any butterflies, but it was the terrible humidity in that place that made us make a run for it. However, I’d like to go back one day, during the day, and explore the garden.

There is even a smokers room in the airport. Is this a common thing in airports?

In South Africa

When we landed in South Africa, we met up with my best friend and her husband at the airport. I was so excited to see her after a year.

Lastly

I think I’ll keep the rest of the photos for next time.

Meh.
