The purpose of this blog

I’m always reading blog posts about how to get more readers and how to improve your SEO, and how to make money out of your blog, and it’s annoying. The purpose of this blog is to be whatever I want it to be, not a stream of income.

No hate if you make money from your blog and whatnot, but not everyone wants that. Some of us just want a creative outlet.

How it started

I had another blog before this one, but it kind of fizzled out after a few years (I started it in 2011). In 2018, I decided it was time for me to start again because I missed it.

Initially, I started this new blog just to have a blog, or rather a (sort of) portfolio that I could show a literary agent if they were to ask about other stuff I’ve written.

Sure, it’s a quirky blog, but I’m quirky and I love reading and writing about random topics.

How it’s going

I’m not making any money from this blog. To be honest, it’s costing me a small fortune, but I feel like it’s worth it. I have connected with other bloggers and writers and it’s been amazing.

Blogging is not my full-time job, although I wouldn’t mind if it was. Writing full time sounds awesome. I love the job that I have now as well, but I wish I could get paid for both. If I could just find a way that allows me to earn a steady income while also having ample time to write while getting paid for it.

We’ll see how it goes when we get on in Australia. I don’t know which jobs I will apply for yet (since it’s easier to do it once you’re there). Maybe I’ll have more time for this blog and my writing projects.

What I love most about this blog is that it forces me to write every day, and that helps to keep me sane. A doctor literally told me that I have to be creative every day because it’s my outlet and without it, I become emotionally and physically unwell. And that pretty much sums up the purpose of this blog.

Lastly

If you’re a blogger, what inspired you to start your blog? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

Meh.
