Recurring dream
Seeing that I’ve been writing about dreams lately, I wanted to share a recurring dream that I had a few years ago. I used to have it every couple of weeks for about a year or two.
I’ve heard many people say that dreams are our link to some kind of higher power and that it can even predict the future. Then there are also some who think that your dreams are your subconscious’s way of telling you something. I agree with the later, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
The dream
I’m a little embarrassed about it because it’s such a silly dream. Also, it wasn’t exactly the same dream every time, but the most important elements were repeated.
The dream usually started off with us in our car, a Toyota Tazz. In the dream, I usually sit in the passenger seat or the seat right behind the driver. Then something happens to the driver and he or she can’t drive anymore (if I’m honest, they just disappear). Then I have to drive, but I stay in my seat. In other words, I don’t move over to the driver’s seat. I don’t know how but in that position I’m able to reach the petrol paddle, but not the clutch. So yeah, I drive even though I struggle a bit.
That’s not even the strangest part. Once I dreamt that I drove the car from the seat behind the driver’s seat, in reverse. I drove like a maniac, but it’s not like anyone can drive very well under those conditions. Then I was in an accident. All I kept thinking in the dream was, “What am I going to tell the insurance company?” and even worse, “What am I going to tell my dad?”
What it means
I did talk to a phycologist about it, and the dream basically points to the fact that everything in my life felt out of control at that point. I have tried to take more control, and I haven’t had that dream in years – which I guess is a good thing.
What do you think about my recurring dream? I’d love to hear from you – contact details below.
